Steven Tyler karaoke tour hits Home Depot
Now that he's not performing with Aerosmith, Steven Tyler has been making some impromptu one man concert appearances in Southern California – one at a karaoke bar and another at a Home Depot, which is starting to sound kind of like an awesome idea for a "Brand Tyler" tour.
TMZ, via Rolling Stone, says Steve took some time out from rehab for painkiller addiction over the weekend to rock out with two Aerosmith songs over the loudspeaker at a Home Depot in Rancho Mirage, CA. A rep confirmed the story.
Well…who among us had never dreamed of doing the same?
This impromptu performance news comes right on the heels of the tale that Steve also surprised patrons at a karaoke night at a Palm Springs pub with a rendition of I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, taking over the mic because some guy was butchering his song. This happened, of course, after Steve's peeps apparently insisted upon entrance that there would be NO pictures and NO karaoke performance. There are reportedly pictures. Natch.
This smells a little like a fun plan: impromptu shows at odd venues. Kind of like that White Stripes tour during which they played all those off the beaten concert track Canadian places like buses and bowling alleys (though folks did, I think, know that the Stripes were coming).
Imagine being on the TTC and, instead of one of those inevitable daily delay announcements, you hear Steven Tyler (from Aerosmith!) singing Janie's Got a Gun. Or you're waiting in line at the Tim Horton's drive thru and instead of "Can I take your order?" you hear Steven Tyler (from Aerosmith!) singing Crazy.
I think it could work. I have to believe this is the plan because another option is to think Steve might actually be going a little crazy and I just can't handle that. It's been a rough week.

Steven Tyler hit #1 with many of his songs. Now he misses the spot light, do you people know what that feels like hitting #1 in the world ! He loves to sing and he could sing anywhere ! Not too many people could do that! Steven Tyler should be in the hall of fame.
Go Steve do your Thing!!

After Aerosmith sold out big time in the late eighties, I figured that mall appearances wouldn't be far off. Fortunately for them, they milked it for 20 extra years.
